Not exactly. Having the GRID installation directory included by the
$PATH variable is (in general) neither required nor harmful, but
invoking 'grid' directly, may not work as expected. I'm omitting
technicalities about this behaviour, using the aliases (e.g. Grid) is
the "standard" way to run the different executables from the GRID
package, so I would suggest it.
