OK. I think your problem will be solved installing the glut package from:
http://download.fedoralegacy.org/redhat/8.0/os/i386/glut-3.7-8.i386.rpm

download it and issue, as root, the command:
rpm -i glut-3.7-8.i386.rpm

Then try again xmetasite
