Well, I think the clear point is that xmetasite can not find libglut :)

Which OS version are you running? libglut is provided by the glut 
package in older Red Hat distibutions and in the freeglut package on 
newer ones.

I could be more precise on this topic only knowing the OS version you 
are running.
