[Users-list] running xmetasite on RedHat linux

Hi,  Thanks for the email.  I am running the "xmetasite" script directly
from the metasite directory.  Here is a transcript of what I'm doing:

[carol at hodgkin ~]$ cd metasite2
[carol at hodgkin ~/metasite2]$ ls
benzene.mol2  cyp2c19.msp  cyp3a4.msp*    env_msite.sh  lib/
stable.mfg
bin/          cyp2c9.msp*  doc/           grub.dat      license
xmetasite*
cyp1a2.msp    cyp2d6.msp*  env_msite.csh  labile.mfg    metasite*
[carol at hodgkin ~/metasite2]$ pwd
/home/carol/metasite2
[carol at hodgkin ~/metasite2]$ ./xmetasite
/home/carol/metasite2/bin/xmetasite_app: error while loading shared
libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
[carol at hodgkin ~/metasite2]$

It seems that somehow my environment variable isn't getting set right?

So I tried switching to a sh and manually setting the variables but I
still had the same problem:
[carol at hodgkin ~/metasite2]$ sh
sh-2.05b$ ./xmetasite
/home/carol/metasite2/bin/xmetasite_app: error while loading shared
libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
sh-2.05b$ printenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/usr/local/g03/bsd:/usr/local/g03/local:/usr/local/g03/extras:/usr/local
/g03:/usr/local/gv/lib:/usr/local/g03/bsd:/usr/local/g03/local:/usr/loca
l/g03/extras:/usr/local/g03:/usr/local/gv/lib
sh-2.05b$ export
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/carol/metasite2/lib${LD_LIBRARY_PATH:+':'$LD_LIBRA
RY_PATH}
sh-2.05b$ export MSITEPATH=/home/carol/metasite2
sh-2.05b$ ./xmetasite
/home/carol/metasite2/bin/xmetasite_app: error while loading shared
libraries: libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
sh-2.05b$ printenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/home/carol/metasite2/lib:/usr/local/g03/bsd:/usr/local/g03/local:/usr/l

Any help you might provide would be much appreciated.

Hello,
you should not run directly the binaries in the bin directory; try 
instead running the shell script we provided in its parent directory:

/home/carol/metasite2/xmetasite

it will take care of setting the proper environment variables prior to 
running xmetasite_app.
